Webcam imagery help mountain drivers quickly judge the weather and driving conditions on their scenic visit to Idyllwild. With this spirit, we are providing a "bird's eyes" view of Idyllwild from three webcams. The first is located near the town center of Idyllwild. The second cam location is in our nearest town, in terms of driving distance, Hemet. The third locale is 180 degrees in the opposite direction, sunny Palm Springs. The live webcam image below is from Georgias. The camera is facing south and the street you see is North Circle Drive, the main drag of Idyllwild. THE IDYLLWILD SCRAPBOOK An area of multimedia that we think doesn't get the attention it should is that of 360 degree panorama photography. It simply is the best way to artificially visualize a subject, whether its a landscape, a family photo, or a product shot. The Idyllwild Scrapbook has about 30 such photos in its album. Enjoy !!

AROUND TOWN
This week's movie (May 14, 7 PM) follows the journey of Billy, a teenager growing up in the inpoverished town of Barnsley, Yorkshire. He is bullied by seemingly everyone around him, including his family and fellow school children. He has no interests and his surroundings are more than bleak. His greatest fear is working deep in the coal mines like everyone in his family. Its soon quite evident that there really is no alternative for him. He is depressed, lacks motivation and has virtually no self-respect. It at the point that he finds a young kestrel (falcon) and trains the bird to fly that his outlook on life changes and this beautiful film takes flight and literally soars. 
Although KES was filmed with an extremely low budget and the majority of actors were just residents of Barnsley, it does not tarnish this extremely moving and poetic story of a young boy's attempt to escape the fate that cloaks him. The performance by the young Billy is stunning. Its acting at its most believable level. KES went on to win the British Academy Award for Best Picture in 1969 and was ranked seventh on the British Film Institute's Top 100 films of all time. Festivities take place at the Green Cafe in Idyllwild. Everyone is welcome. Food, beverage, and admission are free. We are located at corner of Highway 243 and Saunder's Meadow in Idyllwild. PLANET RISE / SET TIMES IN IDYLLWILD Idyllwild is a wonderful place to 'gaze' at the stars, planets, and the moon. Below are the rise & set times (24 hour format) of all the planets in our solar system. The celestial bodies are arranged in chronological rise time order and can be experienced in the Idyllwild area by looking in the lower southeast sky (towards Garner Valley). If the name of the planet is in purple, then it is currently visible under suitable conditions. To view the setting planet, look in the lower southwest sky, towards Hemet.
